It is a fact that for every ton of waste processed in a WTEF, almost one ton of Greenhouse Gas is kept out of our atmosphere. While contributing to resource recovery and the reduction of solid waste going into landfills, a major benefit of the WTEF’s revolutionary technology is the production of Electricity and Potable Water (optional on some systems) as a by-product of the Solid Waste Reduction process. Unlike wind or solar power, Waste-to-Energy facilities can operate 24/7, making them the most continuously reliable source of renewable electricity generation.

With garbage landfills at or near capacity, and expanding urbanization consuming precious available land, new solutions to Solid Waste Disposal and Alternative Energy Sources have emerged to assist municipalities in dealing with these problems while doing their share to help the environment. Waste to Energy Facilities (WTEF) on Land or Barge Based; have emerged as the preeminent solution to the Solid Waste problem faced by cities around the globe. Through the combustion of everyday household trash in facilities with state-of-the-art environmental controls, WTEF’s provide viable alternatives to communities that would otherwise have no alternative, but to buy power from conventional power plants and dispose of their trash in landfills.

In addition to the Tipping Fees collected by the WTEF, the operator can sell or use the Electricity and optional Potable Water produced daily.

 

The RRP’s will be installed at a port facility. The ports are situated in industrial areas with good logistics, such as roads facilitating the access of trucks.

  

The whole operation is fully automated, except for the transfer of the garbage from the silo to the top of the incinerators.

  

The flue gas cleaning equipment is state of the art and complies with the strictest regulations, worldwide. Air Scrubbers/Filters are safe efficient and are based on over 25 year experience aboard cruise ships.

 

 

The Need

 

In most countries the need for effective, safe and environmentally sound waste disposal / treatment systems are a priority, the increase in population, tourism and the improved living standards of the world demands immediate attention to this situation that is a growing menace to our quality of life.

The Solution

 

The Solid Waste Processing Plant becomes an efficient and environmentally safe alternative to existing methods of waste disposal used in most countries today. Our proposal not only provides a clean, efficient way of disposing solid waste but also in doing so co-generates electricity and fresh water, making economically feasible and addressing multiple needs of the communities serving. Our solution goes to where the problem is, instead of connecting the water producing plant through miles of connecting tubes and hundreds of millions of dollars. We take the capability of producing fresh water to the communities and to the designated connections to provide the fresh water right to the water main, saving millions of dollars in unnecessary infrastructure.

 

 

Benefits

 
  • Elimination of future landfills are not the future in the contrary they are unsafe and detrimental to the environment. They become a source of communicable diseases, rodents, and odors and lots of appropriate use of the land.
  • By dumping waste in the landfills, communities lose up to 25% of usable energy.
  • Eliminating and reducing the need for fossil fuel driven electrical generation, therefore reducing emissions and costs.
  • Technological advances in our proposed system allows for a cleaner disposal system
  • Sophisticated, state of the art, air scrubbers and filters are able to trap smoke and emissions and eliminate harmful quantities of toxic particles
  • Incineration insures that waste will become energy and thus not be “waste”. Proposed plant will utilize waste that was scheduled to be landfills “lost energy” and process it, producing freshwater and electricity. Clean, efficient and environmentally safe.
  • The three major environmental problems: Landfills, Emission (Air Pollution) and Water Contamination are all addressed and eliminated by the use of our Integrated Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Programs.

Effect on Ancillary Services

The clean production of electricity will have the following impact.

  5. Utilization of recoverable source of energy (waste)
  6. Additional sources of electricity without capital investment by the government 

Plant Operation

  1. The waste is used as fuel to run the processors. The residue is packaged and sold as filler for cement blacks, roads, construction fill, etc.
  2. Exhaust gas from the thermal processing of the waste heats up the heat exchanger/boiler. This process produces steam
  3. Some of the steam passes through a turbine, which produces electricity.
  4. The rest of the steam is diverted to evaporator units which de-salamis salt water (taken from the ocean/bay) and through condensation produces distilled water.
  5. The distilled water can be passed through a carbon filter process to add taste the water. The salt that was left behind in the previous step is returned to the ocean/bay.
  6. The internal combustion gases resulting from the thermal processing of the waste pass through a very sophisticated filtration system consisting of air scrubbers and filters. This system totally eliminates/controls the emissions (through the highly efficient filters and scrubbing devices)
  7. The computers that control the Plant shut down automatically if there is a problem anywhere along the process. This includes the smoke /emission gas monitors.
